Richard Branson. Julie Deane. Steve Jobs. Hayley Parsons. Mark Zuckerberg. J.K. Rowling. Jamie Oliver. What do they have in common besides massive success?
They are all entrepreneurs.
Some of you might by thinking – I can’t be like those people. The truth is YOU CAN! Jamal Edwards. Poppy Dinsey. Joshua Magidson. Georgina Cooper are young entrepreneurs who are leading the way and redefining what an entrepreneur looks like.
Today the word entrepreneur is used to describe someone who starts a business; and that is part of it. However, it’s more than that. It’s really a lifestyle that’s based on Attitude, Creativity, Dealing with People, and Planning.
Entrepreneurs are no different from you – they are ordinary people who have the determination to turn ideas into products or services. It can be as simple as providing a service for people who don’t know how to do something, or don’t want to do it – pet sitting and walking; event and party planning; social media assistance are a few examples.
Do you have a hobby that you enjoy such as hand making items like crafts and cards?
How about building or fixing PCs? Maybe it’s photography, designing websites or apps? Many entrepreneurs have turned their passions into successful businesses, and as result, they love what they do.
The only way to do great work is to love what you do.
What frustrates you?
If it annoys you, then the chances are it also bothers other people. Business opportunities can be found wherever there’s dissatisfaction - if you can think of better or new way of doing something, see where the idea will take you.
Doing something that you haven’t done before can be scary. However, don’t let those feelings stop you from moving forward. Many things are hard at the beginning; but with some momentum, it will get easier.
Ask all entrepreneurs and they will say that it won’t always be plain sailing. There will be obstacles and setbacks. There will be people whose opinions differ from yours; but with hard work and the determination to succeed, there are no limits to what you can do, or where you can go.
There is nothing great about being normal – dare to be different!
The only way to do great work is to love what you do – Steve Jobs.
