Hywel Ifans

BCC IT Ltd and Big Ideas Wales Role Model

Hywel gained experience working for the NHS as a ‘data inputter’, then as a radio presenter/technician with Radio Ceredigion and then for Blaenachddu Computer Centre (which was to become BCC IT) as a technician. Colleagues decided to buy the company out and invited Hywel to join them - he did, and eventually bought them out too!

BCC IT offers IT support services, IT systems, consultancy and development to a wide range of businesses throughout Wales, England and Ireland.  As well as providing and supporting traditional computing technologies they offer their own hosting and co-location facilities in dedicated data-centres.  Hywel loves being his own boss - he had been ‘bullied’ by bosses over the years and felt the best way to look after staff properly was to get to the top.  He won’t deny that making money was also a major driver!
