I started my carpentry joinery company so that I could be more in control of the work I was carrying out.
Specializing in different areas, when and where I needed.
In control of my own future and finance
I was inspired by my colleague who started his own company in scaffolding. He was a trainee scaffolder when I was at the end of my apprenticeship, and said you need to follow what he had done and start up on my own, which I did and during my time as the owner of the company we often reminded ourselves that was the best thing we could have done.
Lots of problems were dealt with over the years:
- Having to overcome the lack of tradesmen.
- Having to fund projects while waiting for companies to pay you.
- Competing with other companies that would try to undercut you, are just a few I can mention
