I’m Karim Dastgir, the founder of Newport Integrated Learning Centre (NILC), a professionally accredited ICT training and examination centre. After graduating university with a First Class Business degree and a Distinction in my MBA postgraduate studies, I entered into the ‘real’ world of work, but didn’t find this very appealing or inspiring. So, after a long hard look in the mirror, I realised I enjoyed being my own boss, and NILC was born.
Over the past 9 months I have expanded our range of professional training courses, receiving formal accreditations from partners such as Pearson Vue, CompTIA, Sage, Adobe and Microsoft. Moreover, due to the demand of NILC’s local residents, I have also established a community interest arm of the business, which now offers basic level courses in ICT and English language.
Following this, I have recently been awarded a grant by my local council to assist with the businesses development. Furthermore, I now have 2 members of permanent staff and over 20 freelancers, who assist in delivering our training courses on a daily basis.
