Celtic Quest Coasteering

Celtic Quest Coasteering

Celtic Quest Coasteering offer water-based adventure activities on the Pembrokeshire Coast. Based at Abereiddy Bay, I currently employ up to 6 Coasteering guides.

Coasteering involves exploring the coastline at the point where sea meets land, adventure swimming, scramble climbing, cliff jumping, rock hopping and more. I have been in the outdoor industry for 15 years and in 2009 I saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the market specialising in Coasteering.

Our mission is to make Coasteering accessible to all over 8 years of age, including non-swimmers and people with a disability. We operate all year round, mainly in the tourism and corporate sector.

A year into trading I discovered that our brand did not represent who we are/what we do. With little to no budget I needed to rebrand, new logo, website etc. A Local Investment Fund grant enabled me to purchase new hard and software. During the winter of 2010 I taught myself web design/development, graphic design etc. The Celtic Quest Coasteering brand was reborn.

My website went from being a 5 page brochure site to an interactive and informative tool. I spend a lot of time promoting our adventures and indeed Pembrokeshire in general on social media. My product has a high visual impact, so platforms including facebook, twitter, youtube et care a vital ingredient in our marketing recipe.

Competition is our main challenge, with many new operators popping up on the scene. We are currently ranked No1 on Trip Advisor for 'things to do' in UK, and No3 in Europe. In order to stay ahead of the game we have a number of marketing campaigns in the pipeline, that said, keeping to our high standards of customer care will go a long way to keeping us at the top.
