Little Cherubs Day Nursery

Little Cherubs Day Nursery

A Swansea-based day nursery secures Business Wales childcare grant to provide an additional needs placement for a family in need.

Little Cherubs Day Nursery provides childcare services to children 0 to 12 years of age in Swansea. The business applied and successfully obtained a childcare grant, delivered by the Welsh Government’s Business Wales service, allowing them to offer a childcare placement to a young girl with additional needs.

Introduction to business

Little Cherubs is a privately owned, family-run day nursery, offering childcare to babies and children from 0 to 12 years of age.

The nursery also offers baby room facilities, a tweenie, an art and a pre-school room, as well as an outdoor area, all of which are equipped with a range of activities to meet all aspects of a child’s development.

Why did you apply for the Business Wales Childcare grant?

We applied for the Business Wales childcare grant as we’d had a request from the parents of a young girl who were looking for childcare. The young girl had additional needs that could often be challenging. Their current childcare situation (i.e. using grandparents) was no longer an option as the complexity of the needs was far too much for them and proved draining. The parents were experiencing so many knockbacks as the difficulty to find a childcare setting that could ‘cope’ with their daughter was proving extremely difficult. They had taken time off work when no other options were available and were reprimanded for this; they feared their jobs were in jeopardy. After learning about the grant, we applied so we could be able to employ an additional member of staff allowing us to offer a placement.

How has the grant helped you?

The grant allowed us to employ a new member of our team, which enabled us to offer a childcare placement to this family.
