Frequently asked questions about Construction Futures Wales

In this section we answer your frequently asked questions on the process of starting your application process for CFW support.

Construction Futures Wales provides information, advice, practical support and professional training. These services are delivered by industry specialists and are designed to fit around your company’s requirements.

Support is available to Welsh construction companies who are based in Wales, provided that they meet the basic eligibility criteria and are looking to grow and develop their share of the market. Support is made available to companies, not individuals.

Provided your company meets the eligibility criteria, you will be offered an initial review or ‘Company Health Check’ to assess your current position and highlight areas for improvement. Once complete, the recommendations made by your adviser will dictate if you may access free consultancy support (up to 5 days) or Leadership and Management training, or both.

No. All Construction Futures Wales Services are funded by the Welsh Government and CITB, as part of a Joint Investment Strategy to support the growth of Welsh Construction Businesses.

However, a non-attendance clause is included for Leadership and Management training and you may be charged for your place if you fail to attend the training sessions and complete the course.

Yes. You will be offered a recommended course of action by your adviser, but it is up to you if you decide to take it forward or not. The Consultancy Support package is designed to fit around your company’s requirements rather that address a prescribed activity.

Any company within the broader sector of Welsh Construction is more than welcome to attend our topical events, these are free and only basic contact information is required to book a place.

For more specific events, such as Supplier Days or Meet the Contractor events, separate booking instructions will be issued and only those companies who have registered their interest will be invited to attend, often by appointment only.

Initially you will need to provide basic contact and company information, so that we can assess your eligibility for support. This is referred to as a Basic Health Check.

If you complete a full Company Health Check, more detailed information about your company practices will be required to make an accurate assessment of your company performance.

If you then proceed to completing a full Benchmark, financial information from your accounts will be required – this is then used to provide you with a complete picture of your company’s position in the marketplace. The sort of account information we require is readily available if you lodge your accounts with Companies House.

All information gathered as part of your support is treated with the strictest confidence and held in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Your details will not be shared or passed on and you may request any information held about your company at any time. You will own all reports produced via these processes.

You can begin by completing the Basic Health Check using the Apply now button. You can indicate your preference for support on the bottom of that contact form. Please choose ‘Leadership and Management Training’ from the drop-down list.

You will then be required to complete a Pre-Application form giving details about your previous Leadership and Management experience, current role and qualifications. Once completed, this will form the basis of your cohort placement, dependent upon your experience and academic level. This assessment is made by the course providers, Cardiff Met University. Cohorts normally run from September to June and are open to all companies within the Construction Sector.
