An independent tyre comparison site called Motokiki was launched on the 12th November. The company is the brainchild of Entrepreneur, Dr. Debra Evans Williams who was a Managing Director of the car insurance comparison site Confused.com. Having lived and worked, at a senior level, in numerous countries across the world, she has returned to her home area to start a new business in Port Talbot which is one of the eight Enterprise Zones in Wales.
Businesses moving to the area can profit from the inherent strengths and the existing growth potential of the region, and the momentum of the Economic Regeneration Strategy of the Zone and Swansea Bay City Region. This is a catalyst to improving the prospects of communities, businesses and the economy.
Headquartered in the Harbour-side area of the Port Talbot Waterfront Enterprise Zone, this technological service is designed to help motorists save their time and money. With just a few clicks, they can easily compare tyres to find the best deal, buy their tyres and arrange a time to have the tyres fitted at a garage, their home or place of work - with no hidden charges.
Dr. Williams explained: “This is a big day for the Motokiki team and the country’s motorists. Motokiki will transform the way we buy tyres and help people make better choices about one of the most important safety aspects of a vehicle.
“We’ve done our research and spent the past two years, developing and testing Motokiki to make sure it’s the best it can be. We want to raise the standard of tyre comparison sites by creating the country’s first 100% impartial site which not only gives people the choice and information on price but also on other important aspects of tyre safety and efficiency. We want customers to visit a site they can trust to deliver on price, quality and service.”
Motokiki has been built by a strong team with extensive knowledge of the sector and whose experience of comparison sites is unrivalled. There are currently 11 staff and three contractors, which will grow to 20 in the near future.
Motokiki has benefited from £1.5million of equity funding from the Development Bank of Wales which is expected to help it develop new strategic partners, and fund sales and marketing initiatives to raise awareness of the brand and grow its customer base.
Dr Evans Williams has recently joined the Port Talbot Waterfront Enterprise Zone Board which will benefit greatly from her valuable expertise.
