The areas and sites in Central Cardiff

These major developments are transforming parts of the Zone, providing a variety of high quality office accommodation as well as residential, leisure and retail opportunities.

Central Cardiff

A premier 56.7-hectare (140-acre) business district in the closest capital city to London with around 50% lower property costs

Callaghan Square

Already an established, prestigious corporate business address, the Welsh Government-owned development site on the south side of the Square with the potential for up to 46,470m² (500,000ft²) of Grade A offices (with ancillary uses).  

Capital Quarter

A large scale redevelopment scheme of over 74,350m² (800,000ft²) of commercial residential and mixed-use space with Grade A office space available. Much of the scheme is now either complete or under construction but with further phases of development planned to follow.

Cardiff Central Station

Network Rail is completing its upgrading of the mainline station which includes additional lines and a new southern concourse. It has also issued its initial ‘visioning’ proposals for the large-scale redevelopment which has the potential to include circa 31,560m² (340,000ft²) of new office and retail space. 

Central Square

A large development site north of Cardiff Central Station for circa 92,950m² (1million ft²) of new office, retail and residential space. The phased development scheme includes the new BBC Cymru/Wales HQ, Grade A offices, other mixed uses and the proposed new public transport interchange.

John Street

A key mixed-use development site located between Capital Quarter and Callaghan Square, with opportunities for offices, residential and hotel developments.
