Welsh Government Innovation supports FSG Tool and Die Ltd to scale up the production of Visor Frames for frontline staff in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

FSG together in collaboration with Swansea University, responded to the urgent need to develop certified, safe visors that were effective and quick to manufacture. Through design, development and learning from open access information, the collaborators developed, piloted, tested and certified the design.

This project supports the procurement of vital Personal Protective Equipment and the scale up production of vital equipment to the NHS and other frontline staff. In addition, industry partners have been identified who are looking to adopt the design following work undertaken by Swansea University, to manufacture the visor design as part of their product portfolio. If successful, the project will enable knowledge transfer into industry creating a sustainable market for a design initiated, developed and manufactured within Wales.

FSG Tool and Die Ltd, based in Llantrisant, are a high precision engineering manufacturing company who manufacture a range of engineered tooling solutions for many sectors including Food Packaging, Medical, Automotive and wider industry.
