Business Planning - Forestry Management

Are you a farmer considering woodland establishment, management or expansion, or a woodland owner already managing woodlands wishing to develop your woodland business?

Advice could include:

  • Woodland planning, establishment and management specifications with associated costs/ budgets, implications for the wider farm/forestry business, including specialist environmental, landscape, heritage and social advice affecting woodlands
  • grant aid available, market potential of woodlands, woodland management and planting/establishment specifications 
  • Mechanisms for Payments for Ecosystem services
  • Woodland Carbon Code Registration, including group registration and developing or match making to create group schemes for registration at a suitable scale
  • Verification of Woodland Carbon code schemes
  • Validation of Woodland Carbon code schemes as required by the code.
  • Woodland business reviews, business development options, associated costings/cash flows, legal and financial considerations, implications for the existing business.  
  • Completion of Forestry Management Plan approved by Natural Resource Wales (NRW) and Forestry stakeholders.

All advisors have experience of woodland management planning and a proven track record in independent evaluation of forest plans against standards. 

Businesses have 9 months to complete 1-2-1 advice and 12 months to complete Group advice, unless the Group application is approved after the first of February 2022, in which case, the end date for completion of the advice will be 31.01.2023.
