Nerys Hammond

BRECKNOCK

Nerys Hammond is the Farming Connect development officer for Brecknockshire.

Brought up on the family beef and sheep farm near Builth Wells, Nerys still helps out on the farm when she can.

Nerys graduated from Aberystwyth University with a BScEcon degree in business and management. She is a Welsh speaker and a former chair of her local young farmers’ club Howey YFC.

Following university, Nerys worked for Wynnstay PLC before joining Farming Connect in 2014.

A keen advocate of both personal and business development, Nerys is particularly keen to encourage farmers and foresters in her area to tap into the business and technical support available through the Advisory Service and is also a keen advocate of Farming Connect’s lifelong learning and mentoring services.

“As we head into a further period of economic uncertainty, it’s essential to engage fully with Farming Connect in order to benefit from the wide range of services and support available.

“It’s so important to develop personal skills in all three categories of training including business improvement and  technical skills as well as practical courses on the safe use of machinery and equipment.

Nerys also facilitates a number of fully-subscribed Farming Connect discussion groups on sheep, suckler cows and dairy.
