This course is a 1-day training course with integrated assessment and a certificate of competence will be issued on completion of the course.

To enable learners to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in the safe storage and application of all organic manures e.g., slurry, poultry litter, digestate, biosolids. The course will help you to understand the benefits of sufficient storage capacity by excluding rainfall, Nutrient Management Plans and Risk Maps. The consequences of not storing and utilising organic manures properly. The course will provide details of the legislative requirements and good practice guidance relating to protecting the environment. Course content will include the environmental impacts of slurry and organic manures and how they can be overcome. How to minimise ammonia emissions during application. Work safely near water courses and the Control of Agricultural Pollution Regulations introduced in 2021. Record keeping, safe storage, transport and security, health and safety and dealing with accidents.
