This course is a 1-day training course with integrated assessment and a certificate of competence will be issued on completion of the course.

To enable learners to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in the safe use and application of slurry and farm yard manure ( FYM ).The course will help you to understand the benefits of Nutrient Management Plans and Risk Maps. The consequences of not using and managing slurry and manures properly. Legislation and guidance relating to protecting the environment and water systems. The environmental impacts of slurry and manures and how they can be overcome. How to minimise ammonia emissions during application. Work within NVZ’s or near water courses and the new farming rules for water. Record keeping, safe storage, transport and security, health and safety and dealing with accidents. The machinery used to spread the slurry.
