Are you looking to develop and launch successful new or reformulated products which satisfy consumer demands, are financially viable, meet food safety standards, and comply with the latest food information regulations?

If so, ZERO2FIVE’s series of New Product Development Workshops will take you through the entire Stage Gate approach to new product development from concept through to launch.

These fully funded, interactive workshops will be held at ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre in Cardiff.

1. New Product Development – Building a Brief

Thursday 11 April, 10am – 1pm

In order to develop and launch successful new products, you need to start with a comprehensive new product development brief.

This workshop is ideal for companies who have a product idea which they are looking to develop further or those looking to generate new product ideas.

2. New Product Development – The Stage Gate Process

Tuesday 23 April, 9.30am – 1.30pm

New and existing product development is underpinned by the Stage Gate Process. Learn how to develop and implement your own stage gate to support effective development of products.

3. New Product Development – Developing a Safe Product

Thursday 9 May, 9.30am – 1.30pm

Food safety is integral for any food and drink manufacturing company, especially when launching new or re-developed products.

Join us at this workshop to uncover key food safety considerations that should be given to your product and process prior to launching.

4. New Product Development – Legal Labelling Requirements

Tuesday 21 May, 10am – 1pm

Once you have developed a safe product and finalised the recipe, you will need to think about the information that will be printed on the packaging and what legislation must be complied with.

In this workshop we will navigate the list of mandatory labelling requirements using simple explanations and demonstrations. We will also highlight other voluntary information you may want to include and what to consider if you want to make nutritional or health claims.

ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre Start-Up Workshop: For new food and drink businesses Gwendoline Tue, 02/20/2024 - 09:10

Our start-up workshop will take you through the key steps and considerations for starting a food and drink business.

The workshop will also highlight support available that can help you turn your ideas into reality.

Aim:

To support any NEW food or drink manufacturer, anyone considering setting up as a F&D manufacturer and those pivoting from food service to manufacturing.

Must be:

NEW Business = less than 12 months old OR existing food service business looking at a NEW product for retail/wholesale/D2C

Based in Wales and planning to produce in Wales

Workshop Objectives

By the end of the session, delegates will:

Have knowledge of the key requirements for registering a F&D business
Have basic understanding of the initial food safety requirements and knowledge of training available
Have a basic understanding of sourcing ingredients (and how to check ingredients are registered in UK….
Have basic understanding of business planning and will be signposted to further support in Wales
Have a basic understanding of competitor and market research with some tips for FREE and inexpensive ways of undertaking research
Have a basic understanding of sales and marketing tips for new businesses
Have a basic understanding of finance, costings and sourcing finance
Have a basic understanding of scaling production
Have knowledge of the support available through Project HELIX, Cywain and Business Wales

At the end of the session, delegate will have an opportunity to discuss their specific idea/product with an member of the team at ZERO2FIVE and discuss next steps in stages of support.

In February and March, ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre are hosting a series of workshops that will give an overview of a number of key food safety topics for Welsh food and drink businesses.

The events will be held at Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Llandaff Campus.

These sessions will focus on the key requirements detailed in BRCGS Global Standard Food Safety Issue 9 but the same principles can be applied to any food and drink manufacturing site.

Effective Internal Auditing Workshop

20 February 2024, 10am - 1pm

This workshop is ideal for trained auditors and managers looking to develop their internal auditing systems.
