Alun spent over 20 years working in the public sector in north Wales managing staff and projects within the culture and heritage profession on Anglesey. His initial background was in archaeology, moving on to manage up to 40 staff and 7 museums sites and then a similar number of staff in his role as head of education and communication for the Snowdonia National Park Authority. In 2013, he set up his own Welsh translation company (Bla Translation Ltd), working on his own initially but now manages a team of 9 members of staff in a growing office complex in Llangefni. In 2018 Bla won the Best Business up to 10 employees in the Daily Post Business Awards, having previously being shortlisted in 2017.
With a combination therefore of experiences within both the public and private sector, Alun has demonstrated his ability to manage successfully on many levels. This has included strong project management, financial control and most of all his ability to achieve the best from his staff. He has always undertaken an inclusive and friendly approach to staff management, ensuring that people take proud ownership of their work and are encouraged to be confident in their abilities at all times.
Alun holds a degree in Archaeology and an M.A. in Museum Studies, (both at Leicester University), Certificate in Translation (Aberystwyth University) and Accredited Member of the Welsh Translation Soceity and Corporate Member of Institute of Translators and Interpreters, and ILM 7 in Management (Bangor University).
