2018: Year of the Sea

In 2018 This is Wales is celebrating Wales’ outstanding coastline, and inviting visitors to discover new epic experiences all around Wales’ shores, with special events and attractions throughout the year. 

The aim is to celebrate Wales’ epic coast – to make Wales a stand-out UK destination in 2018.

Year of the Sea presents is a fantastic opportunity to promote Wales as a 21st-century coastal destination. With coastal communities and epic shores - from coastal, to lakeside and riverside.

The Year of the Sea Themes are:

  • January to March – epic seascapes

  • April to June – coastal capital and communities

  • July to September – coasts alive

  • October to December – connected coast

In 2016 there were 25 million day visitors to Wales’ coast accounting for a spend of £897 million, so why not take this opportunity for your business to get involved?
