Check In On Your Terms – guidance for holiday and travel businesses

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched a new campaign to help Welsh holiday and travel businesses improve the clarity of their terms and conditions.

The ‘Small Print, Big Difference’ campaign is being run in partnership with the lead associations representing the holiday and travel industry, including ABTA – The Travel Association, UK Hospitality and the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) amongst others.

Unfair terms can often occur in relation to deposits and cancellations, which is frequently cited as one of the main problems consumers have when booking travel and holidays. Having fair terms not only protects businesses if things go wrong, but can boost consumers’ confidence in the sector by showing they’ll be treated fairly.

The guidance will help businesses understand what makes terms and notices unfair, and what the risks are if you use unfair wording. It gives advice about how you can make sure contract terms and notices are fair and clear.
