Fit 4 Nuclear Programme – funding available
The Welsh Government has secured funding to support Welsh businesses, who are committed to diversifying into the civil nuclear supply chain or, are looking to increase their market share within the sector.
In Wales, new nuclear is scheduled at ‘Wylfa Newydd’ on Anglesey, and decommissioning activity will be ongoing at the Wylfa A station and Trawsfynydd, for the next 10 years. Research has identified that Welsh businesses have the potential, with the relevant accreditations and organisational systems, to compete for a significant proportion of nuclear sector contracts, both in Wales and further afield. Welsh Government is eager to support business efforts, to maximise their share of the civil nuclear market, for the benefit of the Welsh economy.
Funding has been secured, to support 50 companies through the Fit For Nuclear (F4N) programme, over the next 18 to 24 months.
Eligible companies must have a manufacturing facility in Wales, a turnover of £1.6 million or above, and employ ten or more. The principles of the F4N programme are more difficult to apply to microenterprises however, microenterprises with the potential to offer a niche product or service to the civil nuclear sector, are encouraged to get in touch, to discuss how F4N can help.
