The Centre for Defence Enterprise is running this £2 million competition to improve aviation security screening.
The aim of the Competition is to seek new technologies and approaches to improve the ability to detect the widest possible range of threatening materials that can be taken on board an aircraft, whilst minimising the inconvenience of undergoing screening and of carrying out that screening.
There will be 2 phases of funding for proposals in the following areas:
- screening of people and their hand luggage
- screening of aviation cargo and hold luggage
Funding between £40,000 and £80,000 per project will be available for Phase 1 with projects expected to last up to 6 months. In Phase 2 there will be £1 million available, but only projects funded in Phase 1 will be able to participate.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm on 19 January 2017.
There will be a briefing for potential applicants on Thursday 17 November 2016 in London or a webinar on Wednesday 23 November if you are unable to make the London event.
