Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is creating real opportunities for Welsh companies and universities to be at the forefront of research and innovation and to collaborate with leading organisations across Europe and the world.

Horizon 2020 Unit is hosting a free event, looking at how EU research and innovation funding can help Welsh organisations thrive now and into the future.

The event takes place on Thursday 30 March at the Future Inn, Cardiff Bay CF10 4AU.

The morning event will include presentations from Wolfgang Burtscher, Deputy Director General in the European Commission and Mark Drakeford AM, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government. In the afternoon there will be two workshops:

  • support and funding for research and innovation: what Welsh businesses need to know – to book a place visit the Eventbrite website

  • flexible and integrated energy systems: a smart opportunity – confirmed speakers are Nelson Mojarro, the Representative in Europe of the Energy Sustainability Fund and the Hydrocarbons Fund of the Ministry of Energy of Mexico; Prof Martin Brunnock, Manufacturing Director, TATA Steel UK; Dr David Bould Project Manager, ERDF SPECIFIC programme; Prof Nick Jenkins, Director of Centre for Integrated Renewable Energy Generation and Supply, Cardiff University; Prof Krzysztof Stanczyk, Head of Clean Coal Technologies Centre, Central Mining Institute, Poland; Dr Michael Jenkins, Principal Sustainable Development Officer, Bridgend County Borough Council and Baudewijn Morgan, Research and Innovation Branch, Welsh European Funding Office
