The UK Government is preparing for the UK’s exit from the EU, and the safe management of chemicals is integral to those preparations.
As part of these preparations, it is vital that the UK has its own IT system to register and manage chemicals, in the event that the UK can no longer access the European Chemicals Agency’s database. Work on this project will ensure that there will be an IT system in place by March 2019 or December 2020 following the implementation period.
The IT system is ready for users to begin to test so your input and feedback would be greatly appreciated on how user-friendly, effective and reliable the system is.
There are a series of stakeholder events to give industry representatives an update on the wider EU exit work in relation to REACH as well as provide an insight into the scope of the IT work, progress to date, and the type of user research that need to be undertaken between now and March 2019.
The provisional dates and locations are listed below:
York 1pm – 4.15pm – 13 September 2018
Edinburgh 1pm – 4.15pm – 18 September 2018
Manchester 1pm – 4.15pm – 20 September 2018
Further events including in Cardiff and Belfast will be arranged at a later date.
If you are interested in engaging with Defra to learn more about the project and about the type of user research which your organisation could in future assist with, please respond by 24 August by email to REACH-IT@defra.gsi.gov.uk
