The Wales Women in STEM: Inaugural Symposium will address the barriers restricting women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. It will bring together those who can implement change in the sector and those who work to create a positive environment in which women and girls are celebrated and supported throughout their careers.

The event will feature speakers including:

  • Jane Hutt, Deputy Minister and Chief Whip
  • Dr Tara Shine, an environmental scientist

There will be workshops addressing the following questions:

  • What can be done in the future?
  • How can we support women returning to STEM?
  • How can we engage girls in STEM from a young age?
  • How can men act as allies for women in the workplace?

The event will also mark the launch of the Women in STEM mentoring platform, which will allow participants to share their experiences of working in STEM and support the next generation of women in the development of their own careers.

The event will take place simultaneously at National Museum Cardiff and the National Slate Museum, Llanberis on Monday 16 September 2019 and is free to attend.
