The Young People into Agriculture scheme will offer start-up aid to top performing young people looking to establish a new business or develop an existing business.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate they have the attributes to lead dynamic businesses and drive positive change in the wider industry.
To be eligible to apply you must be:
under the age of 40 on 1 April 2018
have started farming as head of a holding with 51% or more of an agricultural business in the 12 months prior to 1 April 2018, or
be setting up as the head of a holding for the first time, with a minimum of 51% of the profits from an agricultural business by 1 September 2018
have a business turnover of between £20,000 and £1million
be operating a business within an eligible sector
Start-up aid of £40,000 will be awarded to successful applicants and paid in 3 instalments up until 31 March 2020.
Payments will only be made to individuals who have successfully delivered on an agreed Key Performance Indicator Schedule.
The closing date to apply is 29 August 2018.
