Alex Lewis' business idea started with a chilling story. Well, it was for his friend. The pair were bike riding in the Brecon Beacons when his friend suffered from hypothermia. The traditional foil survival blankets they carried didn't do the job. So Alex created a jacket that was four times more effective at warming you up. And Surviva was born.
Alex needed support getting his venture up and running and he recalls the Welsh Government were happy to help: "I had access to specialists and experts I wouldn't be able to afford otherwise." Now a new factory is in the pipeline and the brand is going global. Surviva is just one of the many small Welsh businesses who are thriving. It gives us a nice warm feeling. Especially when we see 'Made in Wales' on the label.
