Apprenticeship Framework in Equine

OVERVIEW:

This framework specifies the standards and criteria for the delivery of Levels 2, 3 & 4 training provision within the Agricultural, Environmental & Animal Care occupations. Successful completion of the provision will lead to the award of a designated/regulated qualification(s) within the industry.

This Level 2 Apprenticeship is suitable for a variety of roles, including Assistant Groom - ride/non-ride, Assistant Stud Groom/Hand, Trek Assistant.

This Level 3 is suitable for a variety of roles, including Assistant Groom, Apprentice Jockey, Conditional Jockey.

This Level 4 Apprenticeship is suitable for a variety of roles, including Assistant Groom, Supporting Harness Horse Trainer.

MANDATORY OUTCOMES

Achievement of these qualifications will be assessed by verification through the appropriate awarding body. Participants must complete:

  • Either a competence and a knowledge qualification or a combined competence and knowledge based qualification from one of the following pathways.
  • Essential Skills and the Employment Rights and Responsibilities as stated below.

Pathways for this framework at level 2:

Pathway 1: Horse Care, Pathway 2: Racehorse Care, Pathway 3: Harness Horse Care.

Pathways for this framework at level 3:

Pathway 1: Horse Care and Management, Pathway 2: Racehorse Care and Management.

Pathways for this framework at level 4:

Pathway 1: Yard Management, Pathway 2: Riding and Horse Training.
