Lift aims to transform the lives of people living in workless households by giving them the chance to gain vital skills and get a job. But what about you as an employer? The advantages could be far reaching for your business too.
What it's about
By the end of 2017, Lift aims to provide 5,000 training and employment opportunities for local people living in jobless households in Wales. The programme has already provided over 3,500 opportunities since it began in 2014, including supporting more than 700 people into employment.
How it works
In each Lift area, employment brokers work within the local community to identify people who could benefit from the programme.
The Broker’s first job is to establish what has been stopping the individual from finding work. Whatever the cause, the broker will work closely with the person to overcome those barriers so that he or she can begin training or gain experience in the workplace.
To make Lift as beneficial as possible for both the individual and the employer, we are asking businesses like yours to offer work placements for a minimum of 16 hours per week, for at least 2 weeks, or actual employment.

Businesses located within 1 of these 9 areas, based on the 12 Communities First Clusters, across Wales:

- Swansea North West
- Taf West (RCT)
