Pontcysyllte WHS 10 year celebrations

2019 welcomes the tenth anniversary since UNESCO in-scripted one of Wales’ most iconic sites as a designated World Heritage Site. To celebrate this the Canal & River Trust and partners Wrexham County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council, the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley AONB will be Lighting of Structures along the 11 mile WHS corridor, creating a three-week luminaire spectacle staged at five key sites:

  • Chirk Aqueduct,
  • Pontcysyllte Aqueduct,
  • Whitehouses Tunnel,
  • Horseshoe Falls and
  • Dinas Bran.

The luminaire was showcased at ‘Underneath the Arches’ an annual event staged at Pontcysyllte Aqueducts with live music, lighting and fireworks. The luminaire will launch the World Heritage UK conference in October 2019 and staged over 3-weeks. Also included in the activity will be the development of promotional Digital Film and smaller scale celebratory events.
