Restoration of Acidified Streams

This pilot project will investigate a novel method of restoring streams that are affected by acidification. Acidification affects many of the upland streams draining the Cambrian Mountains in Carmarthenshire particularly those that have extensive conifer plantations in their catchments. This project aims to restore the Doethie tributary of the Tywi River using limestone granules to correct the acidity and restore river ecology including fish populations.
