Project Description;

This project will offer a package of training opportunities using innovative techniques on aspects of heritage interpretation to heritage and community groups across North East Wales, helping groups to record their heritage in a dynamic way.

What will the project achieve?

This project will have piloted innovative heritage skills training which will have helped to develop the local identity and sense of place in rural communities. This will help the heritage groups/communities to develop a range of digital material therefore helping to engage more people and making them aware of the rich heritage that their local area has to offer.

Who are the project beneficiaries?

Over 50 heritage/community groups across North East Wales

What was the result of the project?

  • 6 training courses were held by NEWHF from October to December 2017.
  • There were 34 participants overall with representatives from 18 heritage organisations. This is similar to the number of groups that had expressed in the training in the original questionnaire.
  • Some participants attended just one training event; one person attended 5 different training events.
  • The event that attracted the most participants was the Digital Archiving training, with 15 participants representing 12 organisations. (This training also had the greatest interest in the original questionnaire sent to members).
  • Some training events had a limited number of spaces, owing to the nature of the training. Overall the numbers attending each training event were as anticipated.
  • The venues were located in all the three counties of Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham and participants were associated with groups within these areas.
  • The feedback has been good and there is interest in further training events.
