Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
With less than 1000 days to go until the Tournament kicks off on 9 June 2028, I am pleased to confirm Wales’ commitment to hosting the UEFA European Championship in 2028, alongside our UK and Irish partners. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase Wales on the global stage and deliver lasting benefits for our communities.
The Welsh Government will invest up to £30 million to support the successful delivery of the tournament. This funding underpins our ambition to maximise the social and economic impact of EURO 2028 across Wales. Updated analysis shows the tournament is expected to generate £3.6 billion in socio-economic benefits for the UK and Ireland – a significant increase from earlier estimates. Up to £250 million is the estimated Wales share of these opportunities.
