Cardiff-based digital software company, Aforza, specialises in cloud-based solutions for the consumer goods industries.

Established in 2019, the company develops software that helps companies in the sector bring their products to market, enabling them to manage their promotions, sales and distribution via an app.

Today, Aforza exports to 26 countries across four continents including Europe and North America with international sales accounting for a three quarters of its business. The company aims to increase its export figures over the next five years by entering key markets including Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Asia.

Wrexham-based Air Covers specialises in designing and manufacturing protective covers for both civil and military aircraft, boats and vehicles.

Founded in 2006 by husband and wife duo, John and Sasha Pattinson, Air Covers supplies private and public sector organisations including commercial airlines, luxury yacht manufacturers, special forces and defence agencies. The covers help to protect aircraft, land vehicles and marine craft against damage from corrosion, sand abrasion, humidity, salt, heat and ice, minimising the need for maintenance and subsequently increasing their availability.

Penarth-based fintech company, Finalrentals, is a car rental booking platform which enables users to search for and compare car rental prices from a range of companies in a chosen location.

Established in 2019, the company has seen its staff count, number of clients and gross revenue treble over the past 12 months thanks to its export strategy.

Exports account for 100% of Finalrentals’ trade, with the company offering its platform in over 30 countries worldwide across Europe, North Africa, North America, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

My Salah Mat

Newport-based My Salah Mat, the name behind the world’s first interactive prayer mat, has developed an extensive international portfolio since it was formed four years ago, with its products now sold in over 25 countries across four continents.

Originally set up by dad of two Kamal Ali, the company was established after he noticed his son struggling with his praying technique. With a background in product design, Kamal set about creating a solution – a touch activated interactive prayer mat that teaches children the different positions in Salah, including where to place their feet, knees, hands and head, as well as what to say during different positions.

Established in 2001, the company, which forms part of the wider Eakin Healthcare Group, specialises in the manufacture of single use instruments used for complicated surgical procedures. The products offer a high-quality disposable alternative to permanent tools, which can compromise patient safety and outcomes due the difficulty involved in cleaning such intricate items.

Newtown based manufacturer, Makefast Group, designs and builds equipment for the marine and safety industries, as well as systems for super yachts and luxury boats including retractable sunroofs, awning units, and bathing platforms.

Established in 1974 by husband and wife duo, Bill and Brenda Brown, the company was originally focused on producing safety hardware for the marine industry, supplying some of the largest life jacket manufacturers in the UK including the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Soon after, it began expanding its product range to produce higher value items, and explore overseas markets as a means to grow the business.

Mallows Beauty

Cardiff-based Mallows Beauty is a vegan beauty brand that promotes self-love and acceptance. Founded in 2020, the company has gained a cult following since going viral on TikTok with its brightly packaged products such as the ‘Unicorn Shave Butter’ and ‘Pineapple Enzyme Peel Mask’.

Despite only beginning its export journey at the end of 2021, international sales already account for one third of Mallows Beauty’s sales with its products currently sold in Ireland, Europe, the US and Australia. The company hopes to double this figure over the next year by expanding its distributor networks across the globe and focusing on growing sales in the US – a primary target market for the company.
