About Central Cardiff Enterprise Zone

Central Cardiff is Wales’ newest Enterprise Zone and its designation is testament to our ambition of confirming Cardiff as the UK’s premier business location after London.

It’s a sizeable ambition and we understand our role in realising it, through investment in and co-ordination of infrastructure and property development: over 52,000 m² (560,000ft²) of new and redeveloped office space got underway in the Zone’s first three years alone.

Thinking big has served Cardiff well. It’s a progressive city which has undergone an impressive physical transformation and spectacular economic growth over the last 10 years to:

  • become one of the fastest growing economies in the UK
  • have the highest growth in private sector employment over the last 10 years of all UK Core Cities
  • be ranked by fDi Intelligence in 2011 as the 5th best European city in terms of its human resources offering, which is better than Bilbao (6th), Bristol (7th) and Belfast (10th)
  • add world-class venues - the Principality Stadium and Wales Millennium Centre – and St David's Shopping Centre to confirm it as a favourite city destination for tourists

Major development is currently underway or planned at five key sites in the Zone, which are set to further transform the city centre.
