Consultation launched on plans to reduce single use plastics in Wales

The Welsh Government have launched a consultation on proposals to ban a range of single use plastic items and wants your views on how Wales can be at the forefront of the global drive to tackle the plastic waste problem.

The single use plastics being consulted on include:

  • straws
  • stirrers
  • cotton buds
  • balloon sticks
  • plates and cutlery
  • food and drinks containers made of expanded polystyrene and;
  • products made from oxo-degradable plastic

This action is part of wider efforts to tackle the problem of plastic pollution, reduce litter and help move Wales towards a circular economy and a zero waste Wales by 2050.

The consultation is open until 22 October 2020 and responses can be submitted via the Welsh Government website.
