GDPR Privacy Notice   (WG Business Sectors)
 
Section 1 – Purpose for collecting the personal data


In order to receive business support from the Welsh Government we will need to collect information from you. This will include personal information of individuals working within the company and relevant information pertaining to the business. This information is collected and retained by Welsh Government in our remit as the data controller in order to provide ongoing business support, highlight business development opportunities and cross-working opportunities that may benefit your company. The level of support could include:

• Financial support and

• Non financial support including advice and guidance and possibly introductions to other individuals and businesses.   Potential referrals may involve one or more of the following:

- To other Welsh Government Departments. e.g. Welsh Government Business and Regions, Trade and Invest, Education and Skills, Innovation, etc.;
- To external providers delivering business support services funded by Welsh Government. e.g.  Business Wales, Construction Futures Wales (CFW);
- To an external body, e.g.  Local Authorities, Development Bank for Wales, Universities, UK Government, Welsh / UK business support services not funded by WG, Sector specific industry fora.
- To industry and trade bodies e.g. the Construction Industry training Board (CITB), and relevant industry federations.
- To other businesses and relevant stakeholders to facilitate supply chain opportunities and business development

The information collected also allows Welsh Government to carry out the funding, planning and monitoring of its business support activities.

Information collected will include:
Individual names and job titles, business address, contact information (including telephone numbers and e-mail addresses) and information about your business, including the size of your business (turnover & number of employees) and financial information about your company as part of our due diligence processes (e.g. credit checks and Companies House information). It will also include information on your business classification (SIC/NACE codes) and business type. It could also include commercially sensitive data and information such as business plans, financial information or intellectual property.

Section 2 – The Lawful basis for processing the personal data


Welsh Government will use your information to provide ongoing business support and business development opportunities which might benefit your company. We undertake this in order to fulfil our public task as stated in Government of Wales Act 2006 Section 60 Sub para 1(a).
 
Section 3 – Sharing the data


We will consult with other WG departments as well as various external experts (Welsh Local Authorities – Universities – UK Government – Business Support Services etc.) in order to develop a comprehensive support package tailored for your business needs. We will always advise you prior to sharing either personal information or commercially sensitive information with any external parties and outline exactly what information will be shared.

Section 4 – Document Retention


All information you provide will be stored securely and used in full accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.  Any information required to be shared will adhere to the Welsh Government’s Data Sharing policy.
Your details will be retained by Welsh Government for 3 years in line with Welsh Government Records Management & Retention Policy ‘To promote ongoing economic development opportunities’



Individual Rights 


You have the following rights:
• Access to the Personal data that we are processing about you;
• Require us to rectify inaccuracies in that data;
• The right (in certain circumstances) to object to or restrict processing;
• The right (in certain circumstances) for your data to be ‘erased;
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) who is        our independent regulator for data protection.
