Business support assisting a Flintshire setting (Little Disciples) to apply for funding and ongoing support to strengthen governance.
During February and March, 2020, the Childcare Business Development Officer (CBDO), North Wales visited Little Disciples members of the Management Committee and staff. During these visits, discussion took place regarding the role of the Management Committee, the benefits to them of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and the process. Discussion also took place regarding their submission to the local authority for a sustainability grant, further marketing opportunities and the ongoing support the Childcare Business Development Officer, North Wales can provide.
As part of the sustainability grant application Flintshire County Council required a Business Plan for Little Disciples, the Childcare Business Development Officer, provided support, guidance and a template for their Business Plan. This was completed and submitted to Flintshire County Council by Little Disciples. During this period ongoing support was also provided by the Childcare Business Development Officer in respect of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and the development of their constitution. Unfortunately, during March, 2020 the Covid19 pandemic began which delayed the continued development of their application for the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), due to other priorities at the school and concerning the club, when they are ready the application will go ahead. However, we are pleased that the local authority granted Little Disciples with their sustainability grant which will help towards staff salaries and the ongoing sustainability of the club during this difficult time. The Childcare Business Development Officer will continue to provide support to Little Disciples for a robust club and sustained out of school childcare at the school.
