Future proofing fund confirmation

The applications for the fund are open on a competitive call until 11:59pm on Thursday 6 June 2024 or until the total value of submitted applications exceeds the budget allocation. Please use this eligibility checker to help gather the necessary information prior to the applications opening.

Please check the eligibility criteria below for the Welsh Government Future Proofing Fund Grant.

Confirm:

  • That any other non-repayable grant funding from any public sector organisation, including the Welsh Government source is not being pursued;
  • The business operating address is in Wales and the business has employees in Wales;
  • That the applicant businesses and organisation will be expected to align with the ethos and principles of the Economic Contract.
  • In submitting an application for the Welsh Government Future Proofing Fund Grant I am content for my application details to be shared with delivery partners of the scheme (Local Authorities and Business Wales) inline with GDPR.
  • If successful I agree for the name of my business to be published on a recipients of support list on the Welsh Governments web site.

Please have ready the following information before opening the online form:

  • At least 2 quotes for each capital purchase item that exceeds £500. These quotes can be electronic but where possible need to be presented on formal letterheaded paperwork and include the company registration number of the supplier so that the identity of the supplier can be verified.
  • Evidence of your match funding proportion by way of bank statement and/or loan agreement paperwork.
  • Copy of your non-domestic rates invoice from your local authority and in the name of the applicant business, that evidences that the business operates from a property with a rateable value as of 1st April 2024 to be between £6,001 and £51,000.
  • Bank statements for the previous 3 months to verify that the business is actively trading and as evidence of sufficient cashflow.
  • VAT registration Number (If applicable)
  • Company Registration or Charity Commission Number (if applicable):
  • The Sector the business works in
  • Number of Employees
  • Annual Turnover

Please be aware that the following activities are not eligible for funding from this scheme:

  • Gambling and betting
  • Businesses with a religious or political agenda.
  • Sexual entertainment venues or services (lap dancing clubs, strippers etc). Welsh Government has a zero-tolerance policy on Sexual Entertainment Venues to reduce misogyny and gender-based harassment and abuse.
  • Pawn Brokers
  • Currency exchanges including virtual currencies including Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency or crypto asset businesses, Money Service Businesses (MSB) –eg foreign exchange and consumer credit or money lending.
  • Armaments and defence – including the manufacture and / or selling of guns, firing ranges, shooting clubs
  • Banks/Building Societies - regulated or unregulated financial investment, loan, foreign exchange or banking businesses
  • Insurance/Re-insurance activities
  • Unlicensed scrap metal/unregistered waste management companies
  • Dormant/ or Shell companies - inactive companies used as a vehicle for financial transaction or kept dormant for future use.
  • Wheel Clamping Services
  • Hunting of live animals for sport
  • Manufacture of tobacco, or products containing tobacco

Businesses that are headquartered in countries that are 100% tax havens are ineligible for funding from the Economic Resilience Fund. For the purposes of this scheme the 100% tax haven countries are:

  • British Virgin Islands
  • Bermuda
  • Cayman Islands
  • Bahamas
  • Isle of Man
  • Turks and Caicos Islands
  • Anguilla

Please note:

  • Acceptance of the Application for funding is discretionary with no appeals process.
  • The Application must be completed by an Authorised Signatory of the business. An Authorised Signatory can be one of the following:
    • Director: a registered director of a company
    • Trustee: a registered trustee of a charity;
    • Partner: a designated partner/member of a limited liability partnership or a legal partner within a business
    • Proprietor: owner of a business.
