Changes to migration rules for family and work visas 2024

UK businesses are now required to pay overseas workers coming to the UK on a Skilled Worker visa significantly more.

The general salary threshold for those arriving in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa is currently £26,200, with the first increment increase to £29,000 coming into force on 11 April 2024, later in 2024 it will increase to £34,500. By early 2025 it will be £38,700.

The shortage occupation list has been abolished and replaced by a new immigration salary list. Roles on the list will only be included where they are skilled and in shortage, and if it is sensible to include them considering the efforts being made by sectors to invest in the resident workforce.
