Diwrnod Shwmae Su’mae Daytakes place annually on 15 October, and is a national celebration of the Welsh language, wherever you live and whatever your level.
It’s an opportunity to have fun and share the language – in the shop, leisure centre, at work, with friends. In the past it has been celebrated by schools, restaurants, shops, businesses and radio stations.
This year, the “Pwy Sy’n Dweud Shwmae?” (Who is saying Shwmae?) campaign will encourage people of all ages, backgrounds, and communities to share a video of themselves, or someone in their community, showing who they are, where they come from, what they do, or how the Welsh language is part of their lives.
There are plenty ideas for celebrating the day on the campaign’s website: Shwmae. Cymru, with branded stickers, selfie frames and ‘Shwmae Su’mae’ speech bubbles available to download for use in events.
