This year, Dyslexia Awareness Week, taking place from 5 October to 11 October, will focus on dyslexic adults and their experiences of work and the workplace.
The theme 'Dyslexia in real life: At work' will look at how recruitment, communication, workplace systems, management and access to adjustments can affect dyslexic employees.
Dyslexia is often associated with school, reading and spelling, but it is lifelong and can affect many parts of working life. This may include completing applications, processing information, managing workloads, using workplace systems and progressing in a career.
Dyslexic employees bring valuable skills, experience and different ways of thinking. But when workplaces are not designed with different needs in mind, unnecessary barriers can make it harder for people to show what they can do.
Throughout the week, new research will be shared including, lived experiences and practical guidance for employers, managers and employees.
The aim is to build understanding, challenge barriers and encourage workplaces where dyslexic people can contribute, develop and thrive.
