Horizon Europe succeeds Horizon 2020 as the European Union’s next flagship research and innovation programme, running from 2021 to 2027 with a budget of around €100 billion.
As the UK is an Associated Country, Welsh researchers, businesses and other organisations will be able to participate in Horizon Europe on equivalent terms as those from member states. The first calls of Horizon Europe are open and UK organisations are eligible to apply.
For further information visit the European Commission website.
Horizon Europe has opportunities for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) throughout the programme. With a budget of €10 billion for the period 2021-2027, the European Innovation Council (EIC) is a key new element of Horizon Europe supporting SMEs. The EIC supports innovations with potential breakthrough and disruptive nature and scale-up potential, that may be too risky for private investors. For details of opportunities visit the European Innovation Council (europa.eu) website.
Grant funding via SCoRE Cymru remains available for Welsh organisations to make high quality applications to Horizon Europe.
