As companies get busier in the run-up to the festive period, they must all still have measures in place to protect workers, visitors and customers from the risk of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Throughout December the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will continue to carry out spot checks and inspections by calling and visiting businesses to check they are COVID-secure.
During the calls and visits, the HSE provide advice and guidance to manage risk and protect workers and visitors, but where businesses are not managing this, immediate action will be taken.
This can range from providing specific advice, issuing enforcement notices, stopping certain work practices until they are made safe and, where businesses fail to comply, this could lead to prosecution.
Further information on spot checks and inspections is available on the HSE website.
