Met Office – Get #WeatherReady for the summer

As we head towards the summer months, people start thinking about sunny blue skies and planning summer outings and holidays. Summer weather can be as impactful as winter weather bringing both extended periods of heat and impactful summer storms and rainfall.

The Met Office’s WeatherReady campaign provides comprehensive advice from a range of expert partner organisations, including Natural Resources Wales (NRW), to help people prepare for and respond to the weather, so they not only stay safe, but are able to make the most of it.

When it comes to heavy rain, particularly when the ground is very dry and can’t absorb it, flooding and flowing water can cause damage to properties or businesses as well as making for difficult travelling conditions. It's important to keep an eye on the forecast and take action when heavy rain is forecast. This could be simply checking gutters and drains are clear or following NRW advice on checking your flood risk and preparing a flood kit to help you cope in the event of flooding to your home and business.

A wide range of advice articles, including top tips and advice on flood preparedness created in collaboration with Natural Resources Wales, can be found on the Met Office’s website, with guidance that includes how to prepare flood plans, sign up for flood alerts, and what not to do when faced with flooding in a vehicle.
