From 2 to 5 June 2022 communities will be coming together to enjoy the extended bank holiday weekend. It is likely that this occasion will be the first time many communities get together since before the outbreak of COVID-19.
The Food Standards Agency has created tailored guidance to support those holding parties and serving food, with the aim of minimising risk and ensuring food is safe to eat for all - so everyone can fully enjoy such occasions!
FSA Advice overview
The guidance aims to help people understand what measures to take to ensure food is safe to eat. The advice covers:
- Food hygiene
- Making sure chilled foods are handled appropriately
- Avoiding cross contamination
- Ensuring food is cooked properly, such as burgers on BBQs
- Helping people with allergies and intolerances
The full guidance is available to view on the FSA website: How to safely host a street party | Food Standards Agency
It is a busy time for many businesses, so the FSA has put together a package to help communicate these messages, including:
- Draft posts for use on social media
- Social media static images
