SWITCH Net Zero Skills for Swansea Bay City Region

Net zero

SWITCH is delivering essential net zero skills training for the Swansea Bay City Region’s workforce, funded by the Swansea Bay City Deal’s Skills and Talent programme.

The shift towards a net zero economy is creating a critical demand for new capabilities across the region. These free, University-level micro-credentials offer individuals and organisations a practical way to meet this demand, focusing on topics directly relevant to the local economy, from Renewable Energy Technologies to Sustainable Transport.

The online net zero courses are highly flexible, providing self-paced learning designed to fit around existing workload. With an estimated commitment of just a few hours a week over 12 weeks, the training is both accessible and achievable. Courses are delivered via Swansea University's learning platform, Canvas. While individuals control the pace of learning, Swansea University lecturers are readily available to provide guidance and support.

This skills programme enables individuals living or working in south west Wales to gain valuable knowledge to support their organisation's sustainability objectives and expand their expertise for career growth. For organisations, this is an effective, low-cost way to develop in-house net zero expertise and accelerate the region's transition to a net zero economy.
