If you haven’t filed your Self Assessment tax return for 2024 to 2025, you don’t have to wait until 31 January 2026, you can do this anytime. This means you’ll avoid the last-minute rush as the deadline approaches.
Filing early means you:
- can get your money sooner if HMRC owe you a refund
- will know how much tax you need to pay, so you can budget or set up a payment plan with us
- might be able to pay what you owe through your salary or pension the following tax year
- can use your tax calculation as proof of income for a mortgage, loan and any benefit claims
And, you’ll still have until 31 January 2026 to pay what you owe.
