In January 2019, the Welsh Government published an Approach to Supporting Entrepreneurial Women in Wales accompanied by a Good Practice Guide to support the delivery of the Approach. These documents outline how business support organisations can adopt a more gender-focused approach to the delivery of their services and contains practical advice to assist in this delivery.
The approach was developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel of individuals drawn from the public, private, voluntary and Education sectors.
Business Wales responded by committing to produce a Good Practice Guide specifically for business incubator and co-working spaces. This Guide provides advice and suggestions on how to provide a more gender focussed approach for those managing co-working spaces to encourage a more personalised approach for women participants.
This Good Practice Guide will be embedded by the Welsh Government, Enterprise Hubs, partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund, which provide individuals and companies space to network, innovate, establish their enterprises and access a range of support services, such as advice on pitching, workshops and business surgeries.
Enterprise hubs provide an innovative and vibrant community for entrepreneurs to start, develop and grow their businesses. The regional Hubs are located in:
- Anglesey
- Caerphilly
- Carmarthen
- Newtown
- Wrexham
The Guide covers areas such as mentoring, hub environment and networking. Business incubator or co-working spaces are encouraged to consider and adopt within their service delivery.
