The Welsh Construction Forum: “Building Back a Better and Greener Wales”
What has the Forum delivered?
In its first year the Forum delivered well against its agreed 12-point short term action plan to lead the recovery of the sector out of the Covid-19 crisis, with a specific focus on identifying short term workflow opportunities and ensuring security of cashflow for businesses. This work included:
- the production of a short-term programme of public sector work, often referred to as “the pipeline of work”, to increase business confidence, secure employment and help to plan for training, apprenticeships and social value opportunities. The pipeline content is managed by the scheme owners and can be found on Sell2Wales (Documents by Category - Sell2Wales (gov.wales)). Please note that this is a working document that’s under constant review. It should also be noted that inclusion within pipeline document does not guarantee that the works will proceed as planned nor that it will not be subject to any changes.
- a new “12-step guidebook” to support public and private sector construction partners to prepare project bank accounts (PBAs) for public sector contracts. The PBAs will provide cash-flow assurance to contractors and SME’s as part of the Welsh Government’s policy of fair payment. The interactive guidebook, which has been produced by the Forum’s Infrastructure Working Group is available in Welsh and English, can be viewed here in the Welsh language https://bit.ly/3uyQ8kO and the English Language https://bit.ly/3B6RJ3I
- a decarbonisation Roadmap for Net Zero Buildings - Route map to net zero carbon Wales
- an industry wide input to government consultations on procurement reform.
