At the end of April an initial Farm Meeting with Peter Bone to discuss the farm's current situation with regards to mineral supplementation took place. A discussion was held regarding farm details to include stock categories and numbers, feed and fertiliser use, diseases identified on farm and vaccine use along with highlighting any specific issues seen over the years.
A plan was prepared to undertake a full mineral audit which will include:
- Sampling of both Spring and Borehole water sources
- Blood sampling of 4 animals in each livestock groups (Lambs, Ewes, Calves, Heifers and Cows)
- Sampling of forage quality from the whole farm - including grazing, silage and herbal ley forage mineral analysis
To date, all of the forage and blood sampling for the spring / summer grazing season has been completed and results are being processed.
