Trefnant, Denbighshire
Owain Ynyr Pierce is based in Denbighshire and works as a farm worker and second-in-command on a dairy enterprise, where he is involved in a wide range of day-to-day responsibilities. These include milking, feeding, grass measurement and allocation, calf rearing, administering veterinary treatments and general farm husbandry, alongside regular tractor work and machinery operation.
Owain developed his practical skills through full-time employment on farm from a young age, building strong experience across livestock and grassland management. He has also broadened his perspective through international experience, spending six months working on a large-scale dairy farm in New Zealand. This provided valuable exposure to different systems, including pasture-based management and large herd operations.
An active member of the Young Farmers, Owain has taken on leadership responsibilities within his club and continues to engage closely with the agricultural community.
Looking ahead, his ambition is to progress within the industry to farm management level and ultimately enter a contract farming partnership or ownership structure. Through the Agri Academy, he is keen to build his knowledge, confidence and leadership capability to support that progression.
