Tom Powell

Brecon, Powys

Tom Powell Thomas Powell is a Forage Specialist with ForFarmers, covering Mid and North Wales, alongside playing a leading role on his upland family farm near Talgarth. In his professional role, Thomas supports ruminant account managers and farmers with forage-based solutions, helping to optimise feeding strategies and improve farm performance.

Since returning from university, Thomas has taken increasing responsibility for the family farming enterprise, lambing 500 breeding ewes outdoor, alongside rearing dairy-bred calves and selling store cattle. His approach is firmly focused on maximising the use of home-grown forage and operating a sustainable, low-input system.

Thomas has actively engaged with Farming Connect support services, including soil and forage analysis, which have informed improvements in grassland performance, fencing and biodiversity across the farm.

Looking ahead, Thomas is focused on improving resilience within the business in the face of economic and environmental challenges. He is keen to continue enhancing soil health, forage production and on-farm resources, while broadening his professional network. Through the Agri Academy, he aims to gain fresh perspectives, build confidence and apply new ideas to strengthen both the farm and his wider role within the agricultural sector.
